Getting from WTF to Hell Yes in your social media marketing is easier than you think. The first step is to focus on the Hell Yes instead of the WTF. You wouldn’t be reading this if you didn’t already have that part right.
Two months ago, I started way too late to build up my social media marketing platforms.
Imagine you had created over one million leads using digital marketing for yourself and others but had zero posts on Twitter. Your social media marketing was basically zip. A few sunset images on Instagram. Nothing on LinkedIn and a bunch of friends that you mostly didn’t know well on Facebook. Identity crisis, lol WTF moment. That was and depending on when you read this could still be me. After building more than a thousand marketing campaigns for companies from fortune mom and pop to Fortune 50 companies, no social presence? Worse, I know better than anyone if you aren’t a celebrity, social presence needs to be built over time. That’s the beginning of moving from WTF to Hell Yes. Accepting what you know. For example. If you want to build a social presence, there are steps you can’t skip and still expect predictably positive results.
This is a thankless job at first. Virtually no one on your social media sees what you are doing! As a baseline, you need 60 days’ worth of posts directed toward your target audience. Use this as practice and as a way of getting used to content and creation. During this time, follow the people and profiles who already own your target audience.
Social Media Engagement starts with common courtesy. Always acknowledge people who are nice enough to reply to your post with a line or a reply of your own.
People love to be noticed on their social media marketing feeds. Now that you have practiced creating content for 60 days, you no longer look like an Indian bot. Start to like and reply to the posts in your feed that speak to you. This will begin the process. Do this every day but not always to the same person or profile have at least 10-15 options.
Choose groups that have your target audience’s attention and focus on what you do or something you can help with. Groups are magic for engagement.
Look at the Analytics
By this time, if you are like me, you mostly know what’s working, confirm with the data.
This is just one example of a WTF moment and the process to move toward Hell Yes. By the way, during these first two months, my company had record sales. Was it because of the social media marketing, who know. One thing is for sure... I am aligned. The process of writing content should align you with why you are doing what you do. So, first “Hell Yes!” Is in the books.
If you WTF’s are currently centered around sales and marketing, follow me for consistent content that came out of my 1200 campaigns worth of WTF moments. “Hell Yes!” is easier to get to than you think.
Ps. Make sure you don’t start selling until a prospect can vet you online through your social media and hopefully a website or landing page.
